Wall-E Cake

This is a Wall-E cake for birthday party for two boys. This was a big cake. Two quarter-sheets, stacked. One side is yellow cake, the other chocolate. The icing started from regular buttercream since the mom doesn't like chocolate (go figure). I darkened it, then sprayed it with black and blue Color Mist. Wall-E and Eve are Frozen Buttercream Transfer, overpiped.

(Wow, I did a really bad job on the border. What happened there? I also had an issue with centering the transfer. The phone rang as I flipped it over -- made me jump -- and I couldn't move the transfer).

February Update Photos from Haiti

Here are February photo updates from Haiti. Our file apparently still is in dispensation (again).

My Mothers of Preschoolers group had a MOPS & Pops dinner Friday with entertainment provided by an improv group. The food was great and the entertainment was hilarious! Mark and I had a great time.

New picture from Haiti

A fellow adoptive parent from church recently gave me pictures of the girls, mostly of Islande, but I did get a most precious photo of the two of them.

Thanks, Sherri!!

Valentine Cake

Valentine's cake for MOPS. Two tall layers of spice cake, with apple filling (5.5-in. tall cake). Carmel apple-flavored buttercream and fondant (all homemade this time). Fondant hearts and ball border. I rolled my fondant too thin and ran into problems that I couldn't fix (it broke the cake as I tried to lift it off, so I left it). If your fondant is too thin, you can see imperfections in the cake, and it tears easily. This was the first time I used fondant that was completely homemade, which isn't as elastic as the store-bought stuff, but it sure tastes better!
