Wedding Cakes for Larissa

These were for a friend's sister. It was my first wedding cake.

This is what I delivered (the florist was going to add the flowers before the reception). It's two layers of 12" chocolate cake and two layers of 8" chocolate, all covered with fondant and shimmer dust, with a brown ribbon. The cake board was covered like the cakes.

With the flowers.

White velvet 1/4 sheet with vanilla buttercream as a side cake. I don't know if the florist did anything with this one.

New Year's weekend at Grandma's

We spent New Year's weekend with Mark's family in New Mexico. We couldn't leave to head down until Mark got off work, so we didn't arrive at the grandparents' house until 8:30 p.m. But we still pulled out the goodies and celebrated all weekend.

Charis celebrated with the toys at Grandma's.

Grandma also made Charis a Jessie costume. She made the chaps at Thanksgiving; then resized the shirt and added the embellishments when we were down. I bought the hat at Wal-Mart, but it's too small. Now we need to see about a wig.

Note from Islande and Katiana

It's hard to read, but it says:

Dear Mom and Dad,

How are you doing? We miss you so much. We love you so much. We can't wait to see you again. We hope you have a nice Christmas, and we hope to see you soon. We want to know how is my little sister. We hope to see you & love you & miss you.

Love always,

Islande and Katiana

Stop Being a Christian

This is part of a great sermon by our pastor about being Jesus-followers, not "Christians," which is a meaningless term today.
